How to Run GrinderBench on Your Mobile Phone™

Step-by-Step Instructions
1 REGISTER - Complete and submit the GrinderBench registration form, making a note of the User ID and password you have selected. A confirming E-mail will be sent to the address you provided.
2 SET UP YOUR PHONE - Configure your phone to run benchmarks by a) plugging into a power source to avoid running off of battery; b) if possible, change screen saver and/or power management mode to keep screen continuously active throughout the tests (or as long as possible); c) if possible, disable your phone’s radio interface.
3 LOG-IN - Use the browser on your Internet-enabled phone to go to the following URL: http://wap.eembc.org and select Login. Enter the User ID and password you created on the GrinderBench registration form. NOTE: You may use the same user ID and password to test as many different phones as you wish.
4 DOWNLOAD and RUN - You will now see the five links to the GrinderBench benchmarks: Chess, Crypto, kXML, Parallel, and Png decoding. As you click on each of these links, the benchmark will automatically start. Each benchmark test requires about 60 seconds to complete. DO NOT TOUCH ANY PHONE KEYS WHILE THE BENCHMARK IS RUNNING AS THIS WILL AFFECT THE SCORE.
5 CALCULATE GRINDERMARK - After you have collected scores for all five benchmarks, enter each of the five scores into the GrinderMark calculator on this page to derive the GrinderMark score for your phone. You can help EEMBC compare phones by submitting your phone’s scores into our database.

NOTES: Depending on your phone's memory capacity, you may need to delete the GrinderBench benchmarks after you run them. On devices with very limited memory conditions, you might experience problems when running GrinderBench. After starting GrinderBench you might notice one of the following events:

  • GrinderBench suddenly terminates without displaying any messages
  • GrinderBench appears to be hung for more than 90 seconds
  • Your phone displays a message advising of an out-of-memory condition

In any such case, return to the main menu of your phone according to your phone instructions. Most likely, you will not be able to run GrinderBench reliably on your phone.
